Charlie Daniels has pacemaker surgery
A representative for Charlie Daniels says the 76-year-old country singer is recovering after having a pacemaker implanted Thursday.
Daniels was diagnosed Monday with “a mild case of pneumonia.” Tests at a Nashville, Tenn.-area hospital revealed that he needed a pacemaker to regulate his heart rate. He’s scheduled to be released today.
Daniels said in a statement that he’s feeling better and looking forward to spending Easter with his family.
His Saturday and Sunday performances at Middle Tennessee State University have been canceled. Concerts with his band next Friday in Englewood, N.J., and April 6 in Newark, Ohio, have been canceled and will be rescheduled. His tour, which will resume April 11 in Lynchburg, Va., includes an April 13 show at Mountaineer Casino and Resort in Chester, W.Va.

Fox network says Demi Lovato is returning as a judge of “The X Factor.”
The singer-songwriter will be back alongside series creator Simon Cowell when the singing competition begins its third season this fall.
Although calling Lovato “really, really annoying,” Cowell said he enjoys working with her. She joined the panel of judges last year.
Taylor Swift to guest on Fox’s ‘New Girl’
A new girl is coming to Fox’s “New Girl,” and her name is Taylor Swift.
A representative for the Grammy-winning singer said Thursday that Swift will appear on the May 14 season finale of the hit show. No other details were provided.
“New Girl” stars actress-singer Zooey Deschanel as the awkward but bubbly Jessica Day, who lives with three male roommates.
