Austintown teachers OK new pact

Published: Mon, March 18, 2013 @ 5:33 p.m.

The Austintown Teachers Association has approved by an overwhelming margin the tentative agreement between the AEA and the Austintown School District.

The teachers union for Austintown local schools met late this afternoon at Austintown Middle School to vote.

The agreement now goes to the board of education for approval.

The Austintown teachers have been working under their previous contract since May, when it expired, and have been negotiating a new contract since then. The district and the union worked with a federal mediator to come to a tentative agreement on Feb. 25.
