Slavic students to host decorating workshop


Youngstown State University Slavic Student Association is hosting an Easter egg decorating workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the President’s Suite at Kilcawley Center.

Participants will make and take their eggs home.

Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.

Pisanki is an old art of egg painting, where hot wax is drawn on an egg to create intricate patterns; the egg is then dyed in vibrant colors.

All materials provided. Whole and hollow eggs will be used.

The event will feature Polish folklorist Lawrence Kozlowski.

There also will be traditional Polish treats and ethnic vendors with folk items available for purchase.
