FrackFree calls for audit of ODNR

YOUNGSTOWN

FrackFree Mahoning Valley and other community activists plan to present a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency calling on it to conduct a full audit of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ injection- well control program.

The parties plan a press conference Monday, with hopes the agency will conduct an independent investigation of the ODNR program.

They also will ask the agency to suspend ODNR’s authority to administer regulations at injection wells in the state.

According to a press release Friday, the groups say recent state and federal investigations involving Youngstown businesses D&L Energy and Hardrock Excavating after an illegal brine-dumping incident at the companies’ headquarters in January prompted them to consider such steps.

busyman: The two main problems with the ends justifying the means are....1) no consideration is given to the potential for harm caused by the means and, 2) there is no guarantee of what form the ends will take.

p.s. - busyman: As an aside, MOST of these individuals who are actively disseminating "the truth about fracking" in order to save all of our asses are also heavily involved in community outreach to "feed the poor".....and I don't mean feeding them corporate-manufactured, genetically modified/engineered doodoo, man, I mean wholesome, healthy food from local garden initiatives and the like. Help is always welcome if you're interested. :-)

Frackin Debbie. It is time for your group to get out of the 60's. The world has changed and there are enough rules and laws that will prevent the destruction your group calls out for. I bet you are one of the ones who does not work, collecting social security and medicare. You like those privileges and soon than you think if the jobs are not around to support the money supplies to all the people that worked hard to get them, you won't even be able to afford the water that you think will be polluted. You sound like you hate the man, but the man is the one who protects this country and the rights you enjoy to protest your nonsense. Oh please do not respond. My son is taking me out to dinner tonight. He has on of those good paying jobs that the industry has supplied.
