Egg decorating workshop set

Neighbors | Submitted.Pisanki, a very old art of egg painting, where hot wax is drawn on an egg to create intricate patterns, will be demonstrated at the Easter egg decorating workshop on Thursday at Youngstown State University.

The Youngstown State University Slavic Student Association will host an Easter egg decorating workshop on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the President’s Suite at Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus.

The workshop will feature Pisanki, an old art of egg painting, where hot wax is drawn on an egg to create intricate patterns. The egg is then dyed with vibrant colors.

This event will feature folk art led by noted Polish folklorist Lawrence Kozlowski. There also will be traditional Polish treats and ethnic vendors with folk items available for purchase. Participants will have a chance to make and take their own finished egg. All materials will be provided.
