Dance Moms returns to Stambaugh Auditorium
By GUY D’ASTOLFO
“Dance Moms” is returning to Stambaugh Auditorium.
The popular Lifetime network reality show that follows the teachers, students and their mothers at a Pittsburgh-area dance school will film an episode at the Fifth Avenue hall March 23.
It marks the second time that “Dance Moms” has filmed at Stambaugh in the past five months.
The first time was Oct. 28, 2012.
The upcoming event, like the first one, was scheduled when the show’s producers ran into scheduling difficulties and had to find a new location in a short time.
Chris Lewis, marketing director of Stambaugh, said representatives from the show contacted him this week to see if they could use the hall on a last- minute basis.
The producers were pleased with the professionalism and local response from their first visit, said Lewis.
The March 23 event, which will begin at 10 a.m., will feature a visit from the Dance USA Performing Arts Championships tour. It will include a competition featuring some of the best regional competitors as well as dancers from “Dance Moms.”
Tickets are $15 (plus a $4 service fee) and go on sale at 10 a.m. today.
Call the Stambaugh box office at 330-259-0555 or go to stambaughauditorium.com.
Dance USA is a Pittsburgh-based company.
Each year, it chooses 25 dancers to compete in the world championships, which makes nine appearances.
