Youngstown groups win Dominion East Ohio grants

YOUNGSTOWN — Dominion East Ohio today awarded $20,000 in grants to three of Youngstown’s leading community-driven organizations, including the Youngstown Business Incubator, which received $10,000 for winning one of 12 Community Impact Awards.

In all, Dominion distributed $110,000 in grant money to organizations making a difference throughout Ohio. The impact awards were sponsored in-part by Inside Business magazine.

YBI received the award for generating millions in salaries, expenditures and local tax payments throughout the Mahoning Valley.

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. received $5,000 for its Paint Youngstown program, which has helped to increase homeowner investment and improved the city’s appearance, according to Dominion.

Youngstown CityScape Inc. also received $5,000 for spearheading a revitalization effort at Wick Park on the city’s North Side.

The 18th annual Community Impact Awards were selected from more than 90 entries. A panel of community judges selected the winners, recognizing the contributions each organization has made through its work.
