CARD, BINGO PARTIES

Girard Eagles 2172 Ladies Auxiliary will have a spring card and bingo party at 2 p.m. April 7 at the Eagles Hall, 26 W. Wilson Ave. Doors will open at noon, and a light lunch will be served until 1:30 p.m.

Mother of the Crucifix will have its annual bingo and card party at 3 p.m. March 24 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church social hall on Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown. Donation is $6.

FUNDRAISERS

Pink Ribbon Golf Classic will be July 15 at Squaw Creek–Avalon Golf & Country Club, 761 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, Vienna. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Special Olympics Fundraiser will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6 at Bev Road MASCO Workshop, 825 Bev Road, Boardman. Over 800 items will be available for purchase at the Shop Til You Drop Sale benefitting the Mahoning County DD Special Olympics. The event also will include 100 gift baskets and a gift-card raffle valued at $500 of gift cards to local restaurants, bakeries, retail stores, golf items, salons and more. NIGHTS AT RACES

United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is partnering with AFL-CIO Community Services for night at the races April 6 at Operating Engineers Hall Local 66, 291 McClurg Road, Boardman, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Post time will be 7:30.

QUILT SHOWS

Wilmington Township Civic League will sponsor a quilt show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Wilmington Township-Mercer County Municipal Building, 35 Auction Road, New Wilmington, Pa. Mary Neitzel’s quilts will be featured. Admission is $2, and refreshments will be available. Some quilts will be for sale. A Log Cabin quilt will be raffled at the annual garage sale May 18. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund. For information call 724-946-8074.

RAFFLES

For the Dogs and Friends of Fido are selling tickets for a chance to win $100 every Wednesday for a year. Your ticket stays in the drawing even if you win. The drawings begin March 20 and end March 15, 2014. There also will be a grand prize of $1000, second prize of $300 and third prize of $100. Tickets are $40 and will be on sale until Sunday. Send your check to For the Dogs, PO Box 320, Hubbard, OH 44425. Your ticket stub will be mailed back to you, and the winner will be posted on forthedogs.org every Wednesday.

Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, is selling tickets for an Easter basket raffle and 50-50 drawing. There will be two food baskets, which will contain a ham, turkey, kielbasa and the trimmings for an Easter meal plus other food items and gifts. The drawing will take place March 24 after the noon Mass. Winners need not be present. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

SALES

Mahoning County Junior Fair Board is sponsoring a trunk sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 1 at the Canfield Fairgrounds Junior Fair Area at the 4-H end of the fair. For $25 a covered area with 8-foot table will be provided. All the money you make is yours to keep. No supplies will be provided. For information or reservations call Sam Barnhouse at 330-277-3091.

North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, is sponsoring a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Saturday is $2 a bag. There also will be a bake sale and food stand.

SPECIAL EVENTS

St. Patrick Youngstown/St. Vincent de Paul will sponsor a Ladies Night Out on April 11 at the Ursuline Center on Shields Road, Canfield. Local crafters with items pertaining to the home are needed. West Side Cats is preparing for its second annual motorcycle poker run July 31 at Austintown Park. Vendors who sell motorcycle-related items, pet-related items, crafts, art, trash and treasure, etc., are needed. Space rental is $15. Donations are being sought for new items such as gift cards for gift baskets that will be raffled at the event. Bands and food will be available. Space fees and small items may be dropped off at the shelter during adoption hours from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays. For information call 330- 519-5002.

TRIPS

Civil War Round Table is conducting a Gettysburg National Military Park Battlefield tour April 26 through 28. Rangers will guide the tour through the wheat field, peach orchard, Devil’s Den and Culp’s Hill. Cost is $10 donation for the services of the rangers and to buy a wreath to place at the monument of the Sixth Ohio Cavalry. Those interested need to find your own transportation to Gettysburg and reserve and pay for your hotel accommodations and food. Group accommodations are available at Days Inn, 865 York Road, U.S. Route 30, Gettysburg; room rates will be $69 plus 11 percent tax. Each room includes two queen beds. Reservations must be made before March 26 to get the special group rate. Payments for the trip should be given to Dan Welch at the monthly meeting, or mail to him at 91 Jennette Drive, Boardman, OH 44512. Cash or checks will be accepted. Jewish Community Center is hosting a bus trip to Cleveland to see the musical “Guys and Dolls” on June 30. Bus will leave at 2 p.m. and return at 10 p.m. Members pay $70 and nonmembers, $80. Mineral Ridge Alumni Association Banquet Committee is sponsoring a bus trip to Rivers Casino April 11. Proceeds will help defray the cost of the June 22 alumni banquet, which will be at the Fifth Season Banquet Center in Mineral Ridge because of the high school construction. Cost per person for the trip is $30 with bonuses of $15 for slots and $5 for food. Parking for the day and pickup will be at First Presbyterian Church, 3654 state Route 46, Mineral Ridge. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. and will return at approximately 5:30 or 5:45 p.m. Boarding will be at 8:30 a.m. Money must be prepaid. Make checks payable to Mineral Ridge Alumni Association, P.O. Relay for Life Team Rachel is sponsoring a trip to Mountaineer on March 23. The bus will depart at 10 a.m. from the parking lot of St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown. Boarding will begin at 9:30. The bus will leave Mountaineer at 4 p.m. and arrive at the church about 5. Cost per person is $30.
