Brandi Brown, Bob Boldon earn Horizon League top honors

Youngstown State senior forward Brandi Brown was named the Horizon League's player of the year and Penguins coach Bob Boldon was named the conference's coach of the year.

Brown averaged 20.5 points per game and 11.3 rebounds for the Penguins (21-8), who posted an 11-win improvement over last season after being picked to finish second-to-last in the preseason HL poll.

Boldon led YSU to its best season since joining the Horizon League just three years after taking over a winless team.

Also, YSU freshman Shar'Rae Davis was named to the all-newcomer team.
