Members of Campbell Board of Education have selected the person who will lead the district forward following the 2013 school year.
In a meeting Saturday, board members picked Matthew L. Bowen of Canfield, a Damascus Elementary School principal, as the new superintendant of schools. Bowen was awarded a three-year contract , effective Aug. 1.
Thomas D. Robey, Campbell’s current superintendent, is scheduled to retire at the end of the school year.
The board reduced 10 candidates to three during a special meeting in February. On that list were Bowen; Timothy S. Filipovich, Mahoning County Educational Services Center instructional consultant; and Gregory E. Pollock, director of business affairs at Aurora City Schools.
