Brownie Troop 791, led by Lisa Farley and Monica Hughes, spent a recent meeting making blankets for Making Kids Count. The making of the blankets is a service project for the troop, for which each girl will earn a badge.
The troop, made up of second-graders, will make 15 blankets over the next couple meetings. Once the blankets are complete, they will be donated to Making Kids Count, which will in turn distribute them to organizations such as Akron Children’s Hospital.
The purpose of the blanket service project was also to teach the girls teamwork. Members of the group were given a partner and worked together in pairs to make the blankets.
Members of the troop include Allison Farley, Delaney O’Brien, Mallory Hughes, Carly Slaven, Karis Herrmann, Elisabeth Facemyer and Abby Gerchak.
