HIGH SCHOOLS | Tuesday’s news & notes
All-American applicants: The list of teams seeking to join the All-American Conference has grown by two more, AAC commissioner Rick King confirmed to a Vindicator reporter on Tuesday. Youngstown Christian and Steubenville are the latest to seek membership, King said. Steubenville, which boasts one of Ohio’s storied football programs, has applied only for football. There appear to be no lack of schools seeking spots in the AAC. Last month, King told the Vindicator that Boardman, East, Warren Harding, Brookfield, Ashtabula Edgewood and Conneaut had applied for membership. The AAC is expected to vote on the applications on May 1.
East basketball tickets: Tickets for tonight’s Division I boys basketball district semifinal between East and Uniontown Lake will be on sale today at East High School. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children. The Panthers and Blue Streaks will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Alliance High School, with a berth in Saturday night’s district final at stake. The winner will meet Green at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday with a regional berth at stake.
Mooney basketball tickets: Tickets for the Division II boys basketball district final are on sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Thursday in the main office at Cardinal Mooney High School. The Cardinals will meet either Salem or Southeast at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Boardman High School. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children.
