DA mulls charges after boy dies after fight
GLENOLDEN, Pa. (AP) — A suburban Philadelphia district attorney says he is awaiting autopsy results and mulling possible charges in the case of a 12-year-old boy who died weeks after suffering injuries in a fight at school.
Family members say Bailey O’Neill died Sunday morning, a day after he turned 12. The sixth-grader suffered a concussion, broken nose and other injuries in a fight at Darby Township School on Jan. 10. Doctors later put him in a medically induced coma after he began having seizures.
Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan tells the Delaware County Daily Times charges are likely in the case. But he says he’s waiting for the results of an autopsy.
He says allegations of bullying are part of the investigation and he’s asked for some witnesses to be re-interviewed.
