Junior League hosts Kids in the Kitchen

Staff report

Junior League of Youngstown provisional class presents the fourth annual Kids in the Kitchen project from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Austintown Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive.

The project will focus on four key areas: food measurements and labeling knowledge, food substitutions, nutrition and physical activity.

The targeted audience for the project this year will be the Austintown High School sophomore health classes and will include four 15-minute sessions per group.

Assisting with the program are Doris Bullock, personal trainer and fitness expert from Fit Family, and Debbie Gilbert, registered and licensed dietitian, from ValleyCare Northside Medical Center.

This project is based on the Association of Junior Leagues Inc. national effort to educate youth on healthy eating and healthy lifestyles, so the Junior League of Youngstown will focus its efforts on school readiness regarding nutrition and childhood obesity.
