Staff report

shawnee mission, kan.

A teacher and Boardman native has been recognized for her excellent teaching.

Ashley Clark, whose grandmother, Margaret Lammi, lived in Youngstown for 85 years and is now a Tennessee resident, received the 2013 Kansas Cable Telecommunications Horizon Award earlier this year.

Clark’s parents still live in Boardman.

Clark, a graduate of Boardman High School and St. Mary’s College in Indiana, has been teaching elementary school in the Shawnee Mission School District since 2009, but this marks her first year teaching fifth-graders.

Her parents, Ted and Kathy, flew to Kansas to see her receive the award.

The award program is sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education and the Kansas Cable Telecommunications Association.

The program recognizes excellence in elementary and secondary teaching.
