Love was in the air at Vista Center of Boardman’s Love Affair Feb. 17.

More than 65 families and friends attended the gala to pay homage to the 2012 outgoing royal court, King Paul Shovlin, Queen Beverly Holub, Prince Ron Humphries and Princess Karen Wilson, who passed their crowns to the 2013 royalty of King Greg Vargo, Queen Karen Wilson, Prince David Spisak and Princess Lillian Jacobs.

The new royalty won their new status by a tally of nomination and most popular vote.

Activity director Maureen Metzger-McCarty recaps the event.

“Fitting for kings and queens, the Vista’s main dining room filled-up to ‘standing room only’ with abounding celebration. A true reflection of a Valentine’s holiday filled with the warmth of community held together by love and friendship,” said Metzger-McCarty.

All residents, staff and guests danced to the ‘80s band “Following June” and enjoyed hot apple dumplings, ice cream drinks and door prizes.
