Bishop John L. Hopkins has appointed the Rev. Pamela Buzalka as pastor of Boardman United Methodist Church.
She will be replace the Revs. Ash and Peg Welch, who have been assigned pastoral positions in the Central Ohio District after having served the Boardman church for the past 12 years.
The Rev. Ms. Buzalka, who is from the Cleveland area, will participate in a litany for the celebration of her appointment on Sunday at the 9 a.m. praise service and 10:30 traditional service. Receptions will follow each service.
The minister served from 2004-06 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Delaware, OH; 2006-07 at Caledonia Memorial UMC in Caledonia, OH; 2007-10 at Brooklyn Memorial UMC in Cleveland; and 2010-13 at Hathaway UMC and Garfield Heights UMC in Garfield Heights.
Ms. Buzalka earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at John Carroll University in Cleveland and a master’s of divinity at Methodist Seminary of Ohio. She also studied at University of London, England.
She is a fully ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and has taken training in the areas of rethinking church and building collaborative models of ministry with the community.
She has two children and a grandchild.
