Small Ships Revue set for Friday

The 33rd annual Small Ships Revue is ready to set sail Friday in downtown Sharon, in and around the Quaker Steak & Lube complex, 101 E. Chestnut St.

A pre-party will begin at 4 p.m. at the Lube, followed by the parade at 6 p.m.

The collection of unique and wacky homemade ships will make their way down the Shenango River beginning at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place, along with other categories such as most unique and most patriotic. A panel of local celebrities will be judges. More than $5,000 in cash and prizes, including $1,000 for the first-place crew, will be awarded.

Live entertainment with Graphic Pink and Pipedreams will begin at 8 p.m. on the Lube grounds. A fireworks display will begin at 10:15 p.m.

On Saturday, Quaker Steak & Lube will present Fake Fest, the annual festival of tribute bands. Randy Velez, the man of 1,000 voices, will hit the stage at 5 p.m. followed by Mr. Speed (Kiss tribute), Little Ozzy and headliner Cowboy (Kid Rock tribute) at 9 p.m..
