CLEVELAND (AP) — Severe afternoon storms have left thousands without power in northeast Ohio.

Customers are without power in Cuyahoga, Lake and Lorain counties, with reports of downed trees and heavy rain.

WEWS-TV reports late this afternoon that 15,000 FirstEnergy customers are without power in Cuyahoga County, mainly in west side suburbs.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of northern and northeastern Ohio until later this evening. The watch is in effect until 12:01 a.m. Wednesday for Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in Ohio, and Lawrence and Mercer counties in Pennsylvania.
