Ursuline assistant Kevin Cylar is expected to be named the next head football coach at Liberty High School when the school’s board of education meets on Monday.

Cylar would replace Brian Jones, who resigned earlier this month after one season. Jones led the Leopards to an 8-2 record, an All-American Conference National Division title and a playoff berth last fall.

Oakland U. women’s coach fired for conduct

ROCHESTER, Mich.

Oakland University women’s basketball coach Beckie Francis was fired for behavior in April that led to an internal review, the school said Friday. It did not provide details about Francis’ alleged conduct or the review. The school released a statement Friday saying Francis was suspended without pay on May 30 and terminated June 12.

Francis’ husband, Gary Russi, announced his retirement as president of the 19,000-student suburban Detroit university on the same day Francis was relieved of her duties.

Oakland officially becomes a member of the Horizon League on July 1.

NEW YORK

The Miami Heat’s Game 7 win over the San Antonio Spurs drew the second-most viewers for the NBA Finals on ABC since the network took over the series in 2003.

Miami’s 95-88 victory Thursday night was watched by an average of 26.3 million people. Game 7 between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics in 2010 had an audience of 28.2 million.

The series averaged 17.7 million viewers, up 5 percent from last year’s Heat-Thunder finals, which went only five games.

Bolt wins 100 finals at Jamaica nationals

KINGSTON, Jamaica

Usain Bolt clocked a 9.94 seconds in the 100 meters to win the finals of the Jamaica national championships.

The world’s fastest man says he’s revving up for the year’s biggest event, the world championships in Moscow in August.

Behind Bolt was Kemar Bailey-Cole at 9.98 and Nickel Ashmeade at 9.99.

At Friday’s finals in Kingston, Bolt’s night was made easier by the absence of teammate Yohan Blake. The Olympic silver medalist withdrew from the meet because of a hamstring injury that his agent says hasn’t completely healed.
