Grove city, pa.

Grove City College President Richard G. Jewell recently announced that Robert J. Graham, provost at Waynesburg University, has been named Grove City College provost and vice president for academic affairs, effective July 1.

Graham will replace William P. Anderson Jr., who will return to the faculty full time as a professor of sociology in January after having served the college as provost for 12 years.

“Dr. Graham is a talented chief academic officer with extensive experience as both a provost and dean,” Jewell said. “Grove City College is an institution animated by the principles of faith and freedom. As an individual of faith and a highly respected leader, Dr. Graham is uniquely qualified to lead Grove City College as we continue our legacy of providing students with rigorous academics in a Christian environment, at a price that affords graduates the financial freedom to pursue their dreams.”

Graham said he’s honored to have the opportunity to serve Grove City College students, faculty and administration as provost.

“Grove City College has a rich heritage of faith-filled excellence,” he said. “I am proud to have been asked to play a significant role in this remarkable institution’s future.”

After serving for a year as acting provost, Graham served as provost at Waynesburg University from January 2010 to June 2013. He was dean of undergraduate studies at Waynesburg University from 2008 to 2010. Graham served as chair of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., from 2004 to 2008. He also served as professor of sociology from 1997 to 2008 at Lee University.

Before Graham’s time at Lee, he served at the University of Cincinnati for five years, where he worked as a research analyst for the Institute for Policy Research and as a research associate for the Department of Family Medicine.

Graham has a doctorate in sociology from the University of Cincinnati, a master’s degree in gerontological studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Lee University.

He is married to Cheryl Adkins Graham, who has a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in Church Music from Lee University. The couple have a daughter, Corinne, 16.
