First sermon set for Sunday
Corneill D. Morgan will deliver his first sermon during worship at 11 a.m. Sunday at New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 1590 Tod Avenue S.W.
Dr. Robert L. Stringer is pastor.
Youth Day observance planned
Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 320 Elk St., will observe Youth Day on Sunday with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and youth-led service at 10:45.
The second annual prince and princess tea will be at 4 p.m. with guest speaker Joselyn L. Parker, director of youth and teens at the central YMCA. Dinner will be served; tickets are $7.
Kirkin’ of the Tartan service
Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor, will host a Kirkin’ of the Tartan worship service at 10:30 a.m. June 30 on the Village Green.
The Kirkin’ of the Tartan is a Scottish-American ceremony that celebrates family heritage of Scottish immigrants to the United States and Canada. Scottish clans had their own specific plaid designs and colors. The words plaid and tartan are interchangeable.
The Rev. Robbin Del Nagro will conduct the service.
