WARREN

Police were kept busy throughout the city over the weekend, making two aggravated-burglary arrests and investigating a rape and a shooting.

Police responded to an apartment at Stonegate Apartments, 1190 Robert Ave. NW, at 8:28 p.m. Sunday for a 35-year-old man who had been shot in the shoulder. He was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

At 1:27 a.m. Saturday, a 29-year-old Warren woman reported being raped and robbed at 444 Parkman Road SW by a male as she was walking. The man took her purse and another bag and used a handgun, the woman said.

Richard G. Ware, 26, of 2843 North Leavitt Road, was charged with aggravated burglary after a 1:50 a.m. Sunday incident in which he is accused of entering the home of a 25-year-old woman he knows and attempting to stab her and a 27-year-old man with her. It occurred at an apartment at 2325 Plaza Ave. NE.

He is being held in the Trumbull County jail without eligibility to make bond after an arraignment in Warren Municipal Court on Monday.

Police charged James D. Fudge, 23, of 837 Prospect Ave. NW with aggravated burglary in a 4:50 p.m. Friday incident at 1777 Jefferson St. SW in which a 51-year-old man said Fudge kicked in his front door and threatened him with a pipe.

A 25-year-old woman living on Millard Street Southwest suffered two apparently minor stab wounds between 3:30 and 5:30 a.m. Sunday after being attacked by at least six males while at a house party at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Fourth Street Southwest.

The woman said she and three friends were punched and kicked while three men recorded the assaults on their phones. The women were able to get away by driving through a fence while people were on her car, she said.

Taken during the incident were a Wii game system, duffle bag containing clothes and a DVD-VCR combo.

A 54-year-old resident of the 1800 block of Southwest Boulevard reported that she woke up at 12:59 a.m. Sunday to find a man standing over her with a gun. The male fled out the rear kitchen door when he realized she was awake. Missing was an envelope containing $600, she said.

A 21-year-old Nottingham Avenue Northwest man suffered a beating that caused bleeding in his mouth, nose and around his head at 2:45 p.m. Friday. He was taken to ValleyCare TMH for treatment.

He said four male juveniles jumped him near the corner of Caleb Road and Linda Drive Northwest after one of them asked to use his cellphone.

A 26-year-old Tod Avenue Northwest man reported that two unidentified males pointed guns at him while he was stopped in traffic at the intersection of Burton Street and Hazelwood Avenue Southeast at 3:53 p.m. Sunday, causing him to back up at a high rate of speed and crash into a porch at 2454 Burton.
