The Mahoning County Early Childhood Partners Committee, consisting of nine local agencies, will host “Kindergarten! … Here I Come!” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center, Fellows Riverside Gardens, Mill Creek MetroParks, 123 McKinley Ave., Youngstown.
Children entering kindergarten this fall, their families and the community at large are invited to the free event, said Camille Stanford, deputy director of Early Childhood Education at the Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership.

Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, 8010 Market St., is having its first Adopt-A-Palooza event from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The event, at which six animal adoption groups from the Mahoning Valley will have adoptable dogs and cats available, is free and open to the public.

CPR mobile tour
The American Heart Association’s national CPR Mobile Tour will make stops at Southern Park Mall in Boardman from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdayat the Lordstown General Motors Complex/United Autoworkers of America Reuther-Scandy Alli Hall to offer free training to the public on how to perform the life-saving skill of Hands-Only CPR.
The goal of the mobile tour is to train hundreds in the area in the Hands-Only CPR technique, which has two simple steps: Call 9-1-1 and push fast and hard in the center of the chest. To register for either training, visit www.heart.org/cprtouroh and click on the registration link.
The sixth annual Wing King Cook-Off to benefit the United Way of Mercer County is from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot between Quaker Steak & Lube and Tully’s Restaurant.
