Arson suspected in early morning South Side blaze

Published: Tue, June 18, 2013 @ 12:45 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Fire reports say arson is the cause of a fire that destroyed a South Side home about 2 a.m. today.

Crews were called to 756 E. Florida Ave., and found the home fully engulfed. Firefighters directed their efforts to protecting nearby homes, reports said.

Because the home has been vacant for several years and has no gas service, it was ruled as intentionally set, reports said. Damage is listed at $12,000. No one was injured.

"Arson suspected..." Well, it's been vacant for years and had no utilities. Perhaps mice with matches? Also, only in Youngstown would a vacant house be valued at $12,000.
