The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will close its Lake Milton Branch June 28 and its North Jackson Branch June 29 and plans to open its new combined replacement branch on or about July 22.
The new $2 million, 6,270-square-foot branch at 13820 Mahoning Ave. will be named the Tri-Lakes Branch because it is near Berlin Reservoir, Lake Milton and Meander Reservoir, library officials announced.
The new branch, which has been under construction for nearly a year, will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. It will be closed Fridays and Sundays.
Details concerning a dedication ceremony to be conducted after the new library opens will be announced at a later date.
The return deadline for materials checked out of the current North Jackson and Lake Milton branches from now until their closings will be extended until July 30.
The library system also announced that it is in the process of selecting an architect for its next major construction project — the Canfield branch, which will be expanded on its current site.
