Springfield baseball falls to Newark Catholic 2-1 in D4 final

The Springfield High baseball team lost to Newark Catholic 2-1 in the Division IV state final at Huntington Park on Sunday.

The Tigers managed eight hits but couldn't score after taking a 1-0 lead in the first.

Good job Tigers!! You were handicapped from the start. A public school from a small community is fighting an uphill battle against a private school that recruits. It's just basically unfair.

Good job fellas, getting to the state championship is a great accomplishment, a feat to be proud of and im proud of ya. Especially with the good local competition you had to get there.
