One killed, two seriously injured in crash on I-76 near Bailey Road today

Staff report

One person was killed and two others seriously injured in a two-car crash on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 76 at Milepost 59 between state Route 45 and the Ohio Turnpike ramp at 3:06 p.m. today in a construction zone where the highway narrows from three lanes to one lane.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that I-76 was closed between Bailey Road and state Route 46 while the wreckage was being cleaned up.

The injured, one listed critical and the other in serious condition, were transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Neither the names nor the number of people involved in the crash were immediately available.

The OSHP also reported that several other accidents occurred at the same construction area today.

An OSHP officer went to St. Elizabeth to talk to the survivors to find out what caused the crash.
