Austintown librarian Kathe Orr led a story time for 2- and 3-year-olds all about mothers May 8. All of the stories and activities that the children participated in dealt with different kinds of mothers and how they interact with their babies.
Orr began the story time by reading “Little Dinos Don’t Bite” by Michael Dahl before moving on to a flower rhyme. Orr showed children pictures of baby animals and asked them to match them to pictures of their mothers.
Orr also read “Charlie Chick” by Nick Denchfield, about a chick who has many large qualities, but his mother is much bigger. Orr also led a rhyme about the many things that mothers do not allow their children to do, but come children do anyway.
The story time ended when children sand “Happy Mother’s Day,” to the tune of “Happy Birthday,” to their mothers and made them a flower necklace craft.
