Kindergarten students at C.H. Campbell Elementary School celebrated the end of the school year by playing games during field day May 29. The day, coordinated by Ronie Haurin, C.H. Campbell physical education teacher, consisted of stationed activities in the gym.
The students moved from station to station, including such activities as foam skates, scooters, tennis ball balance, baton relay, beach ball volley, egg and spoon relay and Frisbee balance. Parent volunteers were on hand at every station to help the children with their activities.
The students also played Israeli dodge ball in the school’s new Ga-ga pit, which was purchased by the PTO.
“Field day is a nice end-of-the-year event. I plan activities in which all kids can participate. We practice things we have worked on in gym class throughout the year. It’s a fun conclusion of activities for the year,” Haurin said.
Each grade level participates in their own field day to end the school year, with activities planned on par with their skill level.
To end their field day, the kindergartners went outside to enjoy a popsicle treat provided by the PTO.They beat the heat by getting soaked playing splash ball.
