Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, will serve a chicken dinner from 3:30 p.m. until sold out. Cost is $6.There is no need to preorder or get out of the car; drive to the front of the church, and your meal of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans will be ready.
Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, will have a drive-through chicken dinner from 4 p.m. until sold out. The meal costs $7 and consists of stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and brownie.
Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 330-792-1005.
Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available at 11 a.m. This is the last sale of the season.
St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-in orders are welcome. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. This will be the last sale of the season; sales will resume in September.
VFW Post 9571, 11397 Ellsworth Road, Ellsworth, will have an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Also available will be four-piece chicken, chicken fingers, or shrimp with french fries or macaroni and cheese. The cost is $8 for adults and $7.50 for seniors.
First Christian Assembly, 3243 Cardinal Drive, Liberty, is sponsoring a pasta dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Dinners comprise pasta and meatballs, salad, bread, butter, dessert and beverage for $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Proceeds will help fund a missions trip to Guatemala.
First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Church Hill Road, will sponsor a strawberry festival from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will feature strawberry shortcakes, strawberries and ice cream and strawberry milk shakes. Otterbein United Methodist Church, 1128 state Road W, Champion, is offering a carryout chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. June 12. The menu consists of rotisserie chicken, potatoes, coleslaw, green beans, roll, butter and cookie. The cost is $7. A chicken nugget dinner can be ordered for children 4 to 10 for $4.
