A gathering of members and friends of Youngstown Baptist Church during the 1964-80 ministry of Glenn and Sarah Stockton is planned from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 22 at Weathersfield Firehall, 3588 Main St. (Route 46). No reservations are required.

Groening lecture


An introductory lecture on the teachings of Bruno Groening will be presented at 7 p.m. June 10 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 S. Broad St. The session will be at, but is not affiliated with, the church.

The Circle for Spiritual Aid to Life is sponsoring the free 90-minute lecture based on the teachings of Groening, a German healer and teacher.

The World Peace Prayer Society recently awarded a Peace Pole to the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends. The presentation was at Tillman Chapel, Church Center for United Nations in New York City.

Gospel group


The Weavers, a Gospel singing family, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road. The concert is free; an offering will be taken.

Church anniversary


New Hope Baptist Church, 437 Albert St., will mark its 95th anniversary with a celebration at 2:30 p.m. June 9 with the theme ”95 Reasons to Praise the Lord.” The event will honor the memory of former pastors, the Revs. William Flowers, J.C. Herron, David Cox and Joe Bankston.

Guest speaker will be the Rev. Larry McCullough, pastor of World Fellowship Interdenominational Church.

Drive-in services


First United Methodist Church of Andover will sponsor drive-in outdoor services at Wildwood Acres Campgrounds, intersection of state Route 7 and Marvin Road. (Signs will be posted.)

This is the 41st year at this location. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sundays, starting this weekend, and concluding Sept. 1. Special music will be Sound Witness on July 14 and Dan Schall on Sept. 1.

Meyer lecture


Rabbi Samuel Meyer Memorial Lecture will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., with featured speaker, Amy-Jill Levine, a New Testament Scripture scholar from Vanderbilt University. The program is free and open to the public.

Youth event


Dominion Youth Ecclesia of Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church, 1812 Oak Hill Ave., will present a “Back At One Youth Unity Weekend” June 7-9.

The event will feature Suffragan Bishop C. Shawn Tyson, Pastor Jathan Austin, evangelist Marissa Farrow, Elder Aaron Porter Sr. and Jonathan Nelson.

There are fees for various packages and are $60, $45 and $25.

Prayer team


Youngstown City and Regional Prayer Team will meet for a prayer assembly at 10 a.m. today at Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave. Prayer leaders are Larry and Betty Stephens.
