New pickle flavors

Published: Wed, July 31, 2013 @ 12:00 a.m.

New pickle flavors

Spicy, sweet or zesty — it’s never been easier to enjoy the crisp, tangy taste of homemade pickles. And with new recipes you can preserve perfect pickles for any palate. The pickling pros at Mrs. Wages offer a few tips to help you give your cukes a kick of great homemade flavor.

Recipes, including ones for Spicy Pickles and Zesty Bread and Butter Pickles (above) on C2.

Quick-freeze solution

Mix up slushies with the Zoku Slush and Shake Maker.

Set the inner core upright in a freezer for six to 18 hours, then slip it into its outer sleeve, pour in chilled liquids (sweet coffee, chocolate milk, juice) and add elbow grease plus Zoku’s plastic spoon to scrape down the cup’s walls.

After seven minutes, you’ve got a slushy refresher.

The three-piece set (inner core, sleeve, spoon), is BPA- and phthalate-free and comes in several colors.

Cost is $19.95 at williams-sonoma.com.
