Boardman police searching for rock-throwers

Published: Sat, July 27, 2013 @ 4:39 a.m.

BOARDMAN

Police here are looking for whoever threw a softball-sized rock through the window of a Willow Drive home just after midnight Friday.

The rock, according to reports, just missed one of the residents as it landed on his bed where he was sleeping.

When police arrived, they spoke to the victim and two witnesses. One witness told police he heard a loud noise while he was downstairs watching TV.

When he ran outside to see what happened, he saw five juveniles running through the neighborhoods.

He added that he believes he knows who they are because of past physical altercations.

The witness who was nearly hit by the rock refused medical attention.

There were no visible cuts on him. The victim said he wants to press charges if police find out who is responsible.

I hope they catch the Juveniles that did this, but with the laws being what they are, not much will be done to them. Unless one of them squeals on the rest (which is unlikely) they may not even be found. At least no one was killed or seriously injured.

That area is being infiltrated by inhabitants of "Youngstown-South."

Any bets on who is responsible for the rock throwing ?

@ nupanther:

You're the one making assumptions.
I only suggested making a bet on who is the responsible party.

You are correct in stating that Boardman residents are responsible for a lot of the problems that occur there. Ever since "low cost housing" became available, the number of problems there has increased proportionally.

Section 8 has brought this grief upon Boardman. Southside is slowly expanding it's borders. North Boardman is the new ghetto.

Unfortunately, the previous comments are correct. Boardman has definitely become a ghetto on its northern end. Sadly, it is creeping up to the 224 border.

Section 8 housing is ruining Boardman. Did the trustees have to approve Section 8 before it was allowed in??

Why do we allow Section 8 housing to destroy our community? Shouldn't the government, our government, mandate good conduct from these residents or else they get kicked out?

If the trustees did have to approve Sec 8, they are probably long since retired and regretting their decision. Too late now, boys and girls.
