Boardman 12-year-olds bow out

Published: Fri, July 26, 2013 @ 11:28 p.m.

— Travis Harvey and Alex Cardona hit solo homers to stake Boardman to an early 2-0 lead and both later homered again, but two-time defending state champion Hamilton outlasted the locals, 15-11, in the 11-12 Little League state tournament Friday.

Hamilton was not to be denied in a losers' bracket matchup Friday at Cederquist Park, slugging nine home runs.

Troy Waliszewski also homered for Boardman and made a diving catch in left field. Griffin Shantz tripled while Cardona and Michael O’Horo doubled for Boardman.

Hamilton will meet New Albany in the finals today. Cameron Tenhundfeld hit a grand slam for Hamilton.

Boardman finished the state tournament in third place.
