'Justice for Trayvon' rally set Saturday in downtown Youngstown

Published: Thu, July 18, 2013 @ 2:05 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — The Greater Youngstown Community Mobilization Coalition along with its partner organizations — the local chapter of the NAACP, Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League, Youngstown Warren Black Caucus, A. Philip Randolph Institute, Baptist Pastors’ Council, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, 100 Black Men, and the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance — will have a “Justice for Trayvon” rally Saturday on the steps of the Mahoning County Courthouse, 120 Market St.

The rally begins at 11 a.m. and will last about one hour.

It is part of others that will be in cities across the country Saturday to show a unified African-American community that is deeply disappointed and thoroughly frustrated by the verdict in Trayvon’s death, according to a CMC press release.

In memory of Trayvon we can eliminate the hidden danger of concealed weapons. Those packing a concealed gun find it easy to entice their victim into a conflict and then shoot him if the fight isn't going their way. The victim never suspects what is in store for them. LET'S GET ALL OF THE GUNS OFF THE STREETS!

Once again idiots like excel have to put their two cents into this about concealed weapons. Maybe if people made smart choices instead of trying to force themselves on someone because they are being followed . Would they still be alive today. YES!! But they instead they try to intimidate people to show their strength and sometimes they lose . Get over it !

Should be a very good turnout, after all, it's not like these people have to go to a job or anything..

Why is the Mahoning Valley Association of Churches not a sponsor and participant? Is the new director just as clueless and spineless as the former one?

According to our legal system, justice was served.Just because you don't like the verdict, doesn't mean you can riot, loot and burn buildings down.

Act civilized !

"The rally begins at 11 a.m. and will last about one hour"

Typical, only working 1 hour. Ends @ noon, just in time for lunch.
