White House contest to use mystery items
White House Fruit Farm will sponsor a cooking contest, for which all recipes will be limited to the same main ingredients revealed only days before the event.
The Farm-Fresh Cook-Off Challenge will take place Aug. 10 at the farm, located south of Canfield on Route 62.
Preregistered contestants will not know the ingredients until they pick up their ingredient bags Aug. 7 through Aug. 9 at White House.
Completed dishes accompanied by a written recipe must be delivered to the farm by 12:30 p.m. Aug. 10.
Entry forms and a fee of $20 must be in by 5 p.m. Aug. 5; $10 of the fee is being donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.
Contestants can choose between entr e and dessert categories.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each category.
