Someday we may know the rest of the Sciortino arrest story

Vindicator writer Joe Gor- man wrote July 5 about the DUI arrest of County Auditor Michael Sciortino, or as politics writer David Skolnick described it on July 5, an “unarrest.”

They both are just reporting law enforcement incident reports, because no one will talk openly, truthfully and honestly on the record at this point in time.

We will await any involvement by state Attorney General Mike DeWine and his office. But in the interim, the Ohio Revised Code is clear, as The Vindicator’s research has shown. There can be no more detailed definition of the letter of the law, its spirit and intent pertaining to obstruction of justice. County Auditor Michael Sciortino may yet feel the wrath of delayed justice rolling up from Columbus. But for now the scoreboard reads Sciortino 2, Justice 0.

But let us be clear. We need to develop a bit more righteous indignation and let this neophyte Sheriff Greene know that his subordinate was obviously not vetted well before being promoted, and the evaluation process needs some upgrading. T.J. Assion should be terminated now.

We have one of the best right here

I was very pleased to see Valley Care Northside Hospital announce in The Vindicator that Dr. Pyongsoo D. Yoon, cardiothoracic surgeon, has returned to the Mahoning Valley. Dr. Yoon is one of the many hidden gems in our Valley and in my opinion there is no need to travel to the Cleveland Clinic when we have one of the best heart surgeons in the country right here at Northside Medical Center.

In 1998 Dr. Yoon performed an open heart surgery on my 78-year-old father. He had a triple bypass, valve replacement and removal of an aneurysm in a five-hour operation. Due to Dr. Yoon’s exceptional skill level, my dad and our family were given the gift of life for 10 more productive, healthy years before he passed way at age 88. My dad was able to garden, can tomatoes, take walks, go on trips with our family and help with the grandchildren.
