Munnell Run Farm, 753 Greenville Road, has teamed with the Mercer County Conservation District to host informational programs for children age 5 to 8 throughout the summer. A “Stream Creatures” class will teach techniques to collect and identify stream animals and how the animals are significant indicators of stream health. The class will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the farm. The program is appropriate for age 5 to 7.

For organizers to prepare materials, registration is required by Tuesday. Cost is $5.

Salvation Army aid


The Salvation Army of Mahoning County invites county residents to apply for four services at its “Christmas in July” registration at 1501 Glenwood Ave. on Wednesdays and Fridays this month. Registration opportunities are from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 24.

The first 450 children registered will be eligible for a backpack with school supplies for children in grades K-8, a new winter coat for children between 3 and 18, Christmas toys for kids up to 12, and a food voucher for the family.

The next 450 registered children within the same age limits will be eligible for coats, toys and family food vouchers. Children registered after the first 900 will be eligible for toys and family food vouchers; and individual applicants and families with members above the listed ages may register for food vouchers.

Nursing open house


Sharon Regional Health System’s nursing open house will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Avalon Golf and Country Club Squaw Creek, 761 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, Vienna.

Sharon Regional, in Sharon, Pa., is interviewing graduates of approved nursing programs, who have a current Pennsylvania license, for openings in intensive care, coronary care and the cardiovascular unit. The health system also is interviewing for a nursing clinical manager with at least five years of critical- care experience. A bachelor of science in nursing with a critical-care specialty for adult, pediatric and neonatal populations certification is preferred.

The open house offers an opportunity to meet nursing leaders from Sharon Regional and learn more about the opportunities at the Mercer County, Pa., hospital and health care provider.
