Police: 3 inmates escape corrections facility

WERNERSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Police say they’re searching for three inmates who escaped from a corrections facility in Berks County over the weekend.

Investigators say two of the men escaped from the Wernersville Corrections Center in South Heidelberg Township shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday after one of them pulled a fire alarm. Police say 28-year-old Ryan Celani pulled the alarm and escaped along with 22-year-old Jeremy Collazo.

Less than four hours later, police say 25-year-old Adam Murphy also pulled a fire alarm and escaped. Officials say he was last seen getting into a gold-colored Honda Civic with New York plates.

All three are charged with escape and police did not immediately announce any arrests.

Officials say the escapes are similar to two that occurred in June when three inmates escaped during fire alarms.

Why do they have the alarm pullers where the inmates can get to them?
