Police arrested a woman early Thursday evening for drunken driving and obstructing justice charges, as four children were in the back seat of her SUV.
Reports said officers were on another traffic stop at South and Indianola avenues about 8:20 p.m. when an SUV driven by 26-year-old Carmesha Lowe drove very erratically into a nearby parking lot.
A woman in the car said she was fighting with Lowe, who was driving. Four children, age 12, 11, 2 and 8 months, were in the back seat, reports said.
Reports said Lowe had to be told twice to turn her SUV off and when she got out, she screamed at the officer.
Lowe smelled of alcohol and resisted efforts to cuff her by refusing efforts to put her hands behind her back, reports said.
After she was cuffed and placed in a cruiser, she kicked the windows and spit, reports said.
She was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of driving under the influence, driving under suspension, disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice. Reports said she registered a blood alcohol content of .171 during a blood test. The legal limit in Ohio is .08.
