STEM workshop targets 4th- to 6th-grade girls

Careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math will be the focus of a weeklong workshop targeting girls in fourth to sixth grades.

The YWCA of Youngstown in collaboration with Mahoning Valley Manufacturer’s Coalition, OH WOW!, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown’s office and Youngstown City Schools have created a pilot program, the Summer Manufacturing Institute, which will run from July 22 to 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The program is coed, but organizers are seeking girls to apply. The cost of enrollment is $15. For more information or to register, call Jennie Andrews at 330-746-6361.
