Man, dog living in New MIddletown storage unit after home burns

Published: Fri, July 12, 2013 @ 5:23 a.m.

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Police Chief Vince D’Egidio said a man was found living in a state Route 170 New Middletown Road storage unit by an officer overnight Wednesday.

The man told police he was from Petersburg and his home had burned down and he ran out of money for a hotel, D’Egidio said.

The man told D’Egidio he had owned the unit and was there with his dog because no one would take him in. The man was taken to the Rescue Mission while his dog was given to Animal Charity to be housed there.

D’Egidio said the man is on several medications and can hopefully get his affairs in order while he is at the mission.

That is very sad. Hopefully things will work out for the guy and his dog.
