Chamber receives economic development award
The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber received an economic development award Thursday during the Team NEO/Inside Business Annual Economic Development Awards dinner in Cleveland.
The award was for business attraction and relating to the chamber helping to convince Exterran to build a new 65,000-square-foot, $13 million production equipment fabrication facility with more than 100 new employees for the city of Youngstown. The facility opened earlier this year.
Exterran does natural gas compression and a provider of operations, maintenance, service and equipment for oil and natural gas production, processing and transportation applications.
“It is always nice to be recognized by your peers for a job well done. I’m glad that our project partners were able attend, as it really is a group effort to make these projects happen,” said Sarah Boyarko, the Chamber’s Vice President of Economic Development North America. “Exterran is a top-notch organization, and it was an absolute pleasure to have had the opportunity to work with them throughout their development process. We’re glad they chose Youngstown.”
Also recognized for their efforts were representatives from the city for providing the site to the company along with an abatement for new construction. The Mahoning-Columbiana Training Association provided workforce assistance and training funds to Exterran.
