YOUNGSTOWN

The Martin Luther King Planning Committee is sponsoring a bus trip Aug. 28 to Washington, D.C., to participate in the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.

That same day in Youngstown, the committee will sponsor “63: A Focus on Peace and Non Violence” at 3 p.m. in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.

The organizers of the national march are asking that all communities have a 63-minute program to commemorate the dedication to nonviolence of civil rights leaders like Dr. King.

The cost of the bus trip is $50 and includes the trip, snacks and lunch in Washington. The bus will leave at midnight Aug. 28 from New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., and return about 11 p.m. that night.

Reservations may be made by calling New Bethel at 330-747-2125 or Jaladah Aslam at 330-727-5758. Payment must be made by July 26 to the church office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.
