Boardman pain center raided by state, federal agents

Several state and federal agencies executed a federal search warrant Tuesday afternoon at Allied Pain Treatment Center on Windham Court.
Jim Ciotti, special-agent supervisor with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, said a multijurisdictional federal search warrant was being executed in three areas.
“One in the Northern District of Ohio, Southern District of Ohio and one in the Western District of Pennsylvania,” Ciotti said.
Investigation units of the Ohio Attorney General’s office, Ohio Medical Board, Ohio Board of Pharmacy, Ohio Department of Health and Human Services, Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation are involved in the investigation, Ciotti said.
Agents interviewed employees and loaded boxes into a truck outside the treatment center, but Ciotti didn’t say specifically what agents were after.
“The probable cause for the search warrant is sealed under federal seal,” Ciotti said.
Fred Alverson, law- enforcement coordinator with the U.S. Attorney’s office Southern District of Ohio, said the investigation involving “possible criminal activity” is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
He added that he’s unsure of how long agencies have been looking into it.
“It looks like it’s relatively still in the early stages,” Alverson said. “These agencies often begin from complaints from individuals or law enforcement.”
