Trumbull tourism bureau honors local man

Staff report

WARREN

The semiannual membership meeting of the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau at the Wean Foundation updated members of the organization’s activities and also recognized the efforts of local resident Adam Gregory.

In May, a mulch fire occurred next to the tourism office in the area adjacent to the Kinsman House. Gregory, who had been practicing his guitar in Women’s Park, noticed white smoke rising above the building and ran to check out the cause.

At the same time, tourism director Stephanie Sferra smelled smoke and noticed flames getting close to the building. Both Gregory and Sferra worked to contain the fire until the Warren Fire Department arrived.

As a result of his willingness to get involved with the neighborhood emergency, Mayor Doug Franklin presented Gregory with the tourism bureau’s Good Neighbor Award.

The mayor stated that without Gregory’s willingness to help, the outcome could have been catastrophic. Jerry Usselman, tourism-board president, assisted with the presentation.

Gregory, a photographer and graphic designer, lives with his wife in Warren’s historic district.
