MINORS | Area players


Drew Turocy, of, Greenville (S.C.) Drive (A): Turocy was drafted by the Red Sox in the 24th round of the 2011 draft out of Akron. He’s batting .288 in 66 games this season with a .753 OPS (on-base percentage plus slugging).


Steven Gruver, p, Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Kernels (A). Gruver was drafted by the Twins in the seventh round of the 2011 draft. He’s 4-2 2.35 ERA in 22 games (53 2/3 innings) this season.


Greg Rohan, 1b, TBA: Rohan was drafted by the Cubs in the 21st round of the 2009 draft out of Kent State. After finishing 2012 at Triple-A Iowa, Rohan herniated a disc in his back in the Mexican Pacific League. He is still rehabbing his injury at the Cubs’ minor league facility in Mesa, Ariz.


Todd Kibby, p, Great Falls (Mt.) Voyagers (Rookie): Kibby was drafted by the White Sox in the 37th round of the 2011 draft out of St. Petersburg (Fla.) Junior College. He 1-1 with a 7.50 ERA in three starts with the Voyagers. Previously, he went 2-0 with a 5.11 ERA in 15 games with the Class-A Kannapolis Intimidators.


Eddie Rohan, c, Brooklyn Cyclones (Short Season A): Rohan was drafted by the Mets in the 50th round of the 2011 draft out of Winthrop. He is batting .083 in three games with the Cyclones. He also played one game with Advanced-A St. Lucie, getting one hit in four at-bats.


Justin Thomas, p, free agent: Thomas was a fourth-round pick by the Mariners in the 2005 draft. Has also had brief stints in the majors in 2008 (with Seattle), 2010 (Pittsburgh) and 2012 (Red Sox and Yankees). He went 3-6 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 games with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats before asking to be released from his contract last week.

Phil Klein, p, Frisco (Texas) Rough Riders (AA): Klein was drafted by the Rangers in the 30th round of the 2011 draft. He is 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA in 16 games with Frisco. Earlier this season, he went 1-0 with a 1.98 ERA with Advanced-A Myrtle Beach.

Eric Marzec, p, Huntsville Stars (AA): Marzec was a 30th-round pick by the Brewers in the 2010 draft. He’s 2-0 with a 2.23 ERA in 25 games with Double-A Huntsville. Earlier this season, he went 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA at Advanced-A Brevard County.

Drew Dosch, 3b, N/A. Dosch was a 7th-round pick by the Orioles in the 2013 draft. He is not yet active after having ACL surgery in early June.
