Police find loaded gun during traffic stop on Mahoning

Published: Sat, July 6, 2013 @ 2:46 a.m.

AUSTINTOWN

A traffic stop for an expired license plate and delayed turn signal turned into a weapons-offense charge for a Youngstown man.

Dwayne A. Moody Jr., 23, was a passenger in the Nissan Pathfinder when police stopped it on Mahoning Avenue. Moody tried explaining to the officer that he had a valid sticker for the vehicle, but could not provide it, according to a police report.

After Moody and the two other occupants got out of the vehicle for it to be towed, police said they found a loaded handgun in the front passenger side. Moody is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and having fictitious plates.

Law enforcement did a fine job of getting another gun off the streets! There is no need for these guns to be available to kill and maim. LET'S GET ALL OF THE GUNS OFF THE STREETS!
