Township police shot and killed a man after he fired a round at officers from an apartment building window on Cook Avenue Wednesday evening, according to Chief Jack Nichols.
Police went to the scene around 10 p.m. after receiving a report that the man had threatened his neighbors with a gun.
The man barricaded himself in an apartment, police lobbed tear gas into the apartment building and made 69 calls to the cellular phone of the man they ended up killing, the chief said.
No one was injured beside the deceased, Nichols said.
Detectives and the Mahoning County Coroner’s office were investigating the scene where the man lay dead in an apartment.
The chief did not have the name of the deceased.
